Virgin Sex gives girls a no-regrets guide to sex for the first time and
beyond by sharing true stories and advice for and about teens from the
couch of a sex therapist. Virgin Sex is written as a mission to help
young women in America change the way they have first sexual experiences.
At least 50% of high school girls are having sex, and 75% are virgins who
are doing everything but "it" - and half of their parents don't think
they're having sex at all. Lacking real sex education and guidance,
since losing your virginity is a taboo subject in many families and
schools, too many young girls are having first sexual experiences that are
HURTING THEM. Sex for the first time should be fun, feel good, and
be safe, when one is ready. Yet, every week I have women come into
my office with an amazing complaint: they hate sex! Most of
the time, the root problem is difficult or traumatic early sexual
experiences, because many young women and girls lose the natural gift of
healthy sexuality for life when they are teens. For more on my
motivation for this book, what I hope to accomplish and my credentials,

Chapters of Virgin Sex include: "Dr Darcy's Sex Quiz: How to
Know if You Are Ready for Sex", "Guys and Lies: How to Know if a Guy
Likes You or Just Wants You for Sex", and "Why Girls Have Sex." Over
40 teens tell their true stories of their first sexual experiences, giving
real first hand advice to other teens. "Mercedes" talks about how
she had sex too young, when she wasn't ready. "Jake" talks
about an STD scare. "Kayla" tells about being in love and making a
decision to lose her virginity. "Janie" shares her first experience
in kissing a girl and trying to figure out whether or not she's gay.
